Terramycin for Dogs to Treat Bacterial Infections

Terramycin fights bacterial infections in dogs such as tooth problems, infections caused by wounds, pneumonia, sinuses, eye infections and Lyme disease. This medicine is very effective against bacteria and is used for animals like dogs, cats and horses.
Terramycin is a brand name and the main ingredients used are oxytetracycline and polymixin B. This drug is approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is used for the treatment of eye infections. Oxytetracycline and polymixin B present in the drug inhibit the production of proteins that are responsible for the eye infections. This speeds up the healing process of the corneal infections, inflamed eyelids and pink eyes.

Terramycin for dogs is obtainable in a capsule form, powder and as an eye ointment. It is safe and tolerated by dogs and should be administered as prescribed by the vet. Being a pet owner you should watch the signs and symptoms. Some of the symptoms include raised bumps on the skin, continual itching and biting of the feet.

If you notice any symptoms of an allergy to Terramycin then you should immediately discontinue the medication and inform to the vet. Terramycin capsules or the powder can be given along with the pet’s food for the infections caused by wounds, pneumonia, tooth problems or sinuses. When using it you should first wash your hands then introduce a small amount of drug inside your dog’s lower eyelid. Make sure that the tube is not left open unless necessary. Also make sure that the tip of the tube does not come in contact with any other surface rather than your dog’s eye.
